Face-ism
Face-ism – also known as facial prominence bias – is a representational tendency in the mass media whereby men are more often depicted with an emphasis on the face, while women are more often depicted with an emphasis on the body. This visual pattern contributes to the association of men with intelligence, individuality, and subjectivity, while women are more likely to be represented as bodies, aesthetic objects, or objects of sexualized viewing.
