Gender Dimension of Politics
Gender dimension of politics – an analytical approach that applies quantitative and qualitative assessments to the participation, representation, and activity of women and men in politics. It examines gendered patterns of political behavior, political culture, leadership, masculinity and femininity, power relations, and opportunities for social and political self-expression and self-realization.
The gender dimension of politics makes it possible to evaluate how effectively political influence shapes the organization, governance, and planning of private and public life. It also helps to assess the impact of political processes on broader social and political development, as well as to model and forecast socio-political change on the basis of justice, equality, peace, and progress (Melnyk, 2004, p. 219).
