Genderism

Genderism – the belief that there are only two sexes, male and female, and that gender is inseparably linked to an individual’s biological sex. Genderism treats the binary correspondence between sex, gender identity, gender expression, and social role as natural, normal, and compulsory.

From this perspective, cisgender identities are regarded as normative, while transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming identities are marginalized, devalued, or excluded. Genderism is closely related to gender binarism, cissexism, and transphobia, since it supports the idea that people who do not conform to binary gender expectations should be corrected, punished, or socially excluded.
