Filiation / Lineality
Filiation / Lineality – the line through which kinship is reckoned.
Filiation may be matrilineal, or maternal, when kinship is reckoned through the mother’s line (matrilineality), or patrilineal, or paternal, when kinship is reckoned through the father’s line (patrilineality).
