Archetype
Archetype – from the Greek archētypon, meaning “original model” or “primordial image” – in analytical psychology, a universal structure that accumulates the experience of the collective unconscious, organized around important images or ideas, and through which the unconscious influences human behavior and the psyche.
The best-known archetypal images associated with the female and male sexes are Anima and Animus.
