The deconstruction of sex and gender involves analysing these categories, revealing the internal contradictions and assumptions on which they are based, and examining how gender relations become possible within a particular society. It explores how such relations are socially produced and subsequently presented as natural, self-evident, and inherent in individuals, social groups, or society as a whole.
By recognizing gender as a socially constructed system of relations shaped by power, deconstruction makes it possible to problematize existing gender arrangements and consider their transformation.
