Gender Equity
Gender Equity – fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women and men. According to this concept, women and men have different needs and preferences, and these differences must be identified and taken into account in order to eliminate imbalance between the sexes.
The principle of gender equity goes beyond the commonly widespread understanding of gender equality, since it requires not merely equalizing relations, but attention to the needs of persons of a particular sex in order to achieve gender balance. The effective implementation of the principle of gender equity leads to gender equality.
It is important to note that the definition cited above contains an obvious gap, namely the absence of any mention of transgender people (World Health Organization, 2009).
