Glass сeiling – a term from American management discourse that describes an invisible and formally undefined barrier limiting a woman’s advancement up the career ladder.
The glass ceiling refers to informal, institutional, cultural, and organizational obstacles that prevent women from reaching higher professional, managerial, or leadership positions, even when they formally have the necessary education, qualifications, and experience.
A synonym is vertical gender segregation of labour.
