Neosexism
Neosexism / Neo-Sexism – the denial that women are still subjected to discrimination, the rejection of women’s demands, and the belief that women are asking for more than they deserve.
Neosexism may also be associated with such an implicit but widespread form of prejudice as a benevolently patronizing and even exaggeratedly positive attitude toward women on the part of men (Kletsina, 2007, p. 64). In English-language scholarship, this form is often discussed as benevolent sexism.
In other words, neosexism is a manifestation of the conflict between the values of equality and residual negative feelings toward women. When neosexists feel that the existing status quo in society is under threat, they are likely to resist laws designed to ensure equality between the sexes, ignore the situation of women by claiming that discrimination against women is no longer a problem, and view the world with a strong pro-male bias (Nelson, 2003, pp. 311–312).
