Patronymic
Patronymic – a component of a person’s full name derived from the given name, nickname, or occupation of the father or another male ancestor in the paternal line. Examples include names such as Volodymyrivna or Volodymyrovych, which indicate descent from, or relation to, a father named Volodymyr.
A patronymic, transmitted through the father’s line, is the counterpart of a matronymic, which is derived from the mother’s name.
