Gender System of Society

Gender system of society – a set of interconnected institutions and organizations through which relations between women and men, as well as society’s attitude toward issues of sex/gender, are socially, ideologically, and organizationally constructed.

Within the gender system of society, actual sex/gender inequality or equality is formed; the acquisition, real affirmation, and guarantees of the rights, freedoms, and duties of women and men are realized; and real opportunities for their self-realization are ensured in accordance with the achieved level of gender culture (Melnyk, 2004, p. 21).
