National Gender Equality Policy
National gender equality policy – the actions of public institutions, as well as deliberate inaction where it constitutes a policy choice, that directly or indirectly affect the realization and protection of equal rights, freedoms, and opportunities for women and men, the development of gender democracy, and the promotion of a gender-equality culture in society.
Its principal components include:
- Policies aimed at ensuring that women enjoy equal social status, rights, and opportunities for participation and development;
- Policies addressing men’s roles in advancing gender equality, including the development of gender awareness and support for relationships based on equality and partnership;
- Legal and institutional regulation of gender relations;
- Measures promoting gender democracy and a culture of gender equality throughout society.
